Domestic Abuse Victim Advocate Elmendorf AFB, AK
As part of the United States Air Force (USAF) Family Advocacy Program (FAP), Domestic Abuse Victim Advocates (DAVA) provide non-clinical emergent and urgent
service to USAF personnel, their family members, or intimate partners who are victims of domestic abuse whenever requested. With the exception of mandatory
state, federal, and military reporting requirements the DAVA provides a private and confidential service to encourage victims in seeking assistance.

Responsibilities:
Provides 24 hour/7 days a week response to victims alleging domestic abuse by publishing and maintaining an emergency contact number
Maintains duty hours in accordance with local installation military treatment facility duty hours except when flex time is used due to evening, weekend
and/or holiday DAVA required response.
Partners with the Family Advocacy case manager, or mental health on-call provider if the treatment / case manager is unavailable, to establish current and
effective safety plans. The victims' safety is the DAVA's top responsibility and priority.
Immediately reports any changes in the victim's circumstances that changes or impacts the safety plan to the FAP treatment/case manager or mental health
on-call provider if the treatment / case manager is unavailable
Advises victims of the military or civil actions available to promote safety
Offers victims information regarding their identified needs (e.g. emergency shelter, housing, childcare, legal services, clinical resources, medical
services, transitional compensation, etc.)
Advises victims of the impact of domestic violence on children and supports victim's efforts to have children assessed and treated, as needed
Accompanies the victim to appointments or court proceedings when requested by the victim
Supports the development of System Advocacy, Education and Public Awareness materials and activities promoting a coordinated community response to domestic
abuse

Qualifications:
US citizen and can read, understand, speak, and write English fluently.
Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Psychology, or related field with at least one-year post bachelor's experience in Domestic Abuse Victim Advocacy or,
possess a high school diploma with 5 years of experience providing or assisting in providing services to domestic abuse victims with at least two-years as a
DAVA.
DAVAs currently certified as a DAVA may be considered in lieu of education and/or experience requirements.
Valid driver's license, access to a vehicle and willing to incur local vicinity travel
Willingness to provide on-call 24 hours/7 days a week victim advocate services
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite and have the ability to input, retrieve, and format documentation via various databases/software
Experience providing DAVA support services to military communities preferred.
